Franco Brusa was born in Lugano on October 23rd, 1957. He was educated in Lugano and attended the high school in Ascona, obtaining the federal baccalaureate in 1977. He then received his law degree from the University of Bern in 1981.

After graduation, he made his traineeship at the Lugano Civil Court, and after a short period in London to perfect his English, he began his legal and notarial traineeship at the law firm Bolla Bonzanigo (1982-1984). He was admitted to the bar in Ticino (1982) and Graubünden (1986). In 1986 he obtained the license to practice as Civil law notary in Ticino.

After being called to the bar, Franco Brusa continued to work at Bolla Bonzanigo as an associate. In 1993 he became partner of the Firm. 

From 2002 he began to take an interest in mediation, first attending the basic course in mediation at the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), obtaining the title of mediator of the Swiss Lawyers' Federation (FSA) in November 2002. He then attended the post-diploma course in business and public sector mediation in the years 2002 - 2005. Since 2010, he holds the Swiss Mediation Federation's (FSM) license as a mediator.

In the field of the alternative dispute resolution, in 2019 he took classes in collaborative practice and he is a co-founder of the Ticino Association of Collaborative Practitioners.

From 2017 he is a member of the board and chairs the Ticino Chapter of the Swedish Swiss Chamber of Commerce.

Franco Brusa was a partner of the law firm Bolla Bonzanigo & Associati (1993-2019) and is a co-founder and partner of the law firm Collegal (2020-2021). Since 2022 he is a lawyer and mediator of counsel at the law firm Collegal.

Franco Brusa activity fields are commercial law, private international law, contract law in general, trademark law and unfair competition, inheritance law, commercial criminal law and intellectual property. He is also particularly active in the field of arbitration, where he has gathered considerable experience, particularly at international level.

He is an arbitrator both for institutional arbitration systems, such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC / ICC) in Paris or the National and International Arbitration Chamber in Milan, and ad hoc arbitrations.

He chairs the Swiss Italian Chapter of the Swiss Chamber for Commercial Mediation (CSMC).

Franco Brusa speaks Italian, French, German and English. He also has good knowledge of Swedish. He is registered with the Ticino Bar Registry and admitted to practice in all Switzerland.
